The 50 Peso Mexican Gold coin is one of the most famous coins produced by the Mexican mint as it was produced in tribute to the centennial of Mexico's year of independence from Spain (1821). 

The coins feature the 'The Angel of Independence' on the front, with the Mexian coat of arms on the back. The coins were issued by the Banco de Mexico from 1921-1947. A large number of coins were minted with a restrike year of 1947. 

Each coin contains 1.2057 ounces of gold.
